Janae’s Inside Report: Muskegon Correctional Facility (8/22/15)

On August 22, 2015, we had a great opportunity to share with the men again at Muskegon Correctional Facility. We had been there in May of this year and many of the guys had stated that we should come back in August to do an outdoor concert. They mentioned that because the weather was so nice, and the fact that the guys are inside the majority of the time, it would be nice to be outdoors rather than inside for a concert.

One week before the outdoor concert was scheduled, there were some disturbances that forced the administration to change the venue to indoors. So, we could either reschedule, or have the concert indoors again. Many of the guys had their hearts set on the concert so we went ahead with it on the date promised.

It was a tremendous time in the Lord. Fifteen members of the Calvary Church Choir came and opened the evening. What a powerful time…the men stood to praise God as the Choir sang.  It was the first time in a prison for many of the Choir members. They were certainly blessed by having come. Our dear friend Ren Broekhuizen spoke from the word of God with a message titled, “This is the man: Jesus.” He is an amazing communicator and this day was no different. The men cheered, stood, and clapped for our Lord as he shared. As Wayburn sang, many were moved to tears, praising God…standing again and giving Him praise. There were approximately 120 guys in attendance as two men gave their lives to Christ this evening. A beautiful time in the Lord. We will go back at Christmas time. The men requested the Choir again.
