Janae’s Inside Report: Parnall Correctional Facility (10-24-15)

“….when we all see Jesus, we’ll sing and shout the victory!”

There’s an old hymn that we used to sing when I was a young girl growing up in church. Part of the songs goes like this: “When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be! When we all see Jesus, we’ll sing and shout the victory.

Saturday in Jackson was what I would call “a taste of heaven” and that kind of “rejoicing.” The brothers there were very happy to see us back as they kindly greeted us at the door, eager to help set up. They could hardly wait for the concert to begin as they filed into the chapel early to get a good seat. Once Wayburn began to sing—that’s when the real “rejoicing” began. The Holy Spirit was present as the men began to sing praises to God as loud as they could, there was cheering, mixed with crying, and hands raised giving praise to God for His goodness.

When an invitation was given to receive the gift of salvation, six men came forward and gave their lives to Christ. As they came forward the over 150 other men who knew the Lord as Savior erupted into cheering and shouting, giving Glory to God for these lost soul who had found forgiveness, grace, and hope through Christ. It so reminded us of the verse in Luke 15:7 where Jesus says “joy shall be in heaven over one sinner who repents. The joyful cheering, tears and enthusiasm as these men stepped forward was something we will never forget. “What a day of REJOICING it will be when we all see Jesus, we’ll sing and shout the victory!” Hallelujah.
